    Duties

    Join the Fight Against Financial Crime The Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) is at the forefront of ensuring the safety of Canadians and the integrity of Canada's financial system. As Canada's financial intelligence unit and AML/ATF supervisor, FINTRAC helps combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and threats to the security of Canada.

    As a Team Lead in Risk Management, your duties will include:

    • Developing Risk Management Strategies: Create and implement risk management plans. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.

    • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments. Analyze risk data and trends.

    • Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and update risk-related policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

    • Team Leadership and Development: Manage and lead the risk team. Provide training and development opportunities for team members. Allocate resources effectively to support risk management activities.

    • Communication: Communicate risk findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders. Facilitate risk management workshops and training sessions.

    • Reporting: Prepare and present risk reports to senior management. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of risk management activities.

    • Collaboration: Work with other departments to integrate risk management with business processes. Coordinate with external parties such as auditors and regulators.

    • Incident Management: Respond to and manage risk events or incidents. Develop and implement incident response plans.

    • Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve risk management tools, practices, and processes. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in risk management.

    • Technology Utilization: Leverage technology to enhance risk detection and analysis. Implement risk management information systems if applicable.

    • Crisis Management: Prepare for and lead the response to crises that may impact the organization. Develop and test crisis management plans.

    • Ethics and Compliance: Promote an organizational culture that emphasizes ethical behavior and compliance. Ensure that risk management practices adhere to legal and ethical standards.

    • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand risk perspectives. Incorporate stakeholder feedback into risk management processes.

    Work environment

    The selected candidate will physically work in one of our 4 FINTRAC locations: Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa or Montreal. As a Team Lead, in-office presence is required a minimum of 3 times / week.

    Information you must provide In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


    • Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution


    • Minimum of 3 years experience in risk management field preferably within the 2nd line

    • Experience in at least one (1) of the four (4) areas:
    1) Experience developing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks (ERM) and policies
    2) Experience developing or implementing enterprise and business level risk appetite frameworks (RAF)
    3) Experience conducting or overseeing Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA)
    4) Experience conducting sector-wide risk assessments

    • Experience managing people

    If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)


    • Risk management designation such as Financial Risk Management (FRM) and Canadian Risk Management (CRM).


    • Experience leading a risk management team or unit.

    • Experience in conducting enterprise-wide risk evaluations and reporting to senior management or board members.

    Bilingual - Imperative(CBC/CBC)
    What does this mean? In order to be appointed, the successful candidate must meet the language profile of CBC at the time of appointment. A CBC/CBC profile means that a person whose first official language is French must possess the CBC level in English and a person whose first official language is English must possess the CBC level in French.
    The required proficiency levels are: C in reading comprehension (advanced), B in written expression (intermediate) and C in oral language (advanced).
