Position Summary

Performs maintenance duties as assigned to assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment in and around all RainCity Housing facilities.

Works with the operations staff, program staff, volunteers, clients/tenants and contracted trades people.

Performs maintenance and repairs related to buildings, grounds, and equipment, in areas such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and grounds keeping.

Work is performed at all RainCity Housing buildings.


Includes materials management duties such as meeting with site supervisors and staff to determine materiel and supply requirements, contacting suppliers to order supplies and negotiate prices or to investigate and resolve problems or discrepancies.

Monitors janitorial staff, contracted cleaning services and trades people.

Pursuant to the Provincial Health Officer's Order, the incumbent of this position is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

We will only consider applicants who are fully vaccinated, or who have received an exemption from the Provincial Health Office.

Proof of either must be provided in advance of any offer of employment being made.

QUALIFICATIONS
Many forms of education and experience are valued, including volunteering and lived experience of mental illness / addiction/ Minimum education and experience includes:

  • Grade 1
  • Recent, relevant experience of two years
  • Completion of a purchasing course
  • Completion of a building maintenance course
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • First Aid certificate
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with tenants/clients
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with support staff, supervisors and program managers
  • Physical ability to carry out the work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
