Metro Community Housing Association is a non-profit, community-based agency that provides support and residential services to persons who have experienced mental health difficulties.

We are seeking client focused Residential Counsellors for our Residential Services Team.


Residential Counsellors are responsible for supporting clients in all aspects of daily living, follow consistent IPPs and Behaviour Modification programs, provide medication monitoring, attend appointments with clients, accompany clients on recreation outings and complete required documentation.


You will be successful in this role if you are respectful to everyone you support and work with, put clients needs first, have a good sense of professional boundaries, possess good judgement, and have an innate ability to make people feel good.

This is a unionized position and is eligible for Collective Agreement benefits.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Completed postsecondar education in Human Services (Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or related field
    OR 2 years related experience in an RRW level position.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, online training)
  • Completion of Core Competencies
    preferred

Asset

  • Work, volunteer, or lived experience in a care position/support capacity
  • Understanding of mental health disorders and symptoms

Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in an environment with challenging client behaviors
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions during client crises or house emergencies
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Positive representative for the Agency
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, online training)

Wage Rate
- $20.32 per hour

  • 10 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Evening shift
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed

Supplemental pay types:
