    Springboard's Adult Community Justice Programs deliver supports to 18+ individuals in the justice system in Ontario. Our Direct Accountability Program (DAP) team support individuals with matters in Toronto Court in order to set them up for future success and support in taking accountability for their actions which led to their justice involvement. Our CSO team work closely with probation to arrange for community-based placement opportunities that are tied to the individuals' interests, experiences, and strengths, in order to set them up for future success and support in taking accountability for their actions which led to their justice involvement.

    Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Justice & Diversion Programs, the Assistant Supervisor- Adult Justice, will assist in the management all aspects of programs and contribute to the development of a framework of community-based alternative interventions to respond to individual participant needs and address prevention, rehabilitation, integration and reparation of harm.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Oversight & Engagement

    • Program planning skills to implement, evaluate and modify new and existing program, as needed
    • Ongoing development for the self and the team as it relates to anti-oppressive principles and practices and supporting the team in embedding these principles in all aspects of their work
    • Liaise with and build awareness within the courts and community about the programs and services provided
    • Maintain existing partnerships and develop new partnerships as required
    • Assist with employee engagement and managing staff in a unionized environment
    • Assist with monitoring program policy, procedure and process in compliance with agency and funder requirements in adherence with all applicable legislation
    • Assist with overseeing program volunteers and students, including recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, and support
    • Formulate an effective staff schedule, ensuring appropriate utilization of human resources for staff working in several Springboard and community locations.
    • Ensure the safety and security of all staff, volunteers and participants at various Springboard locations including

    Administration

    • Participate in the completion of internal and external reports and statistical data accurately and on time as required. Develop program communications and forms.
    • Assist in managing budgets; review to ensure expenditures, including related documents, are in accordance to the approved budget and financial policies and procedures, as it relates to the Adult Justice program budgets
    • Organize and implement work procedures and standards, including documentation and reporting requirements
    • Ensure policies and procedures for collecting, collating and reporting information are consistently followed

    Case Management and Services

    • Support with case management, including regular case conferences with Adult Justice Workers across all programs
    • Problem solve and follow-up with staff team and/or individuals served on any incidents or serious occurrences.
    • Problem solve on a daily basis with staff team and individuals served on program or service-related matters
    • Ensure that best practices, policies and procedures are applied in the provision of services and delivery of programs
    • Provide front line coverage for Adult Justice Program as required
    • Support in the development, collection, and review of evaluation data to support in ongoing program fidelity and growth
    • Foster relationships and represent the programs and organization at network tables, community groups, conferences, etc. as assigned

    WHO YOU ARE

    Knowledge/Experience

    • Post-secondary diploma or equivalent in social work, community justice or related field
    • Minimum two (2) years of work related experience in providing leadership to and supervision/management of staff, program development, assessment and implementation, budget administration.
    • Excellent working knowledge of the court and criminal justice system as well as social service agencies.
    • Knowledge of the principles, concepts and current best practices in the area of restorative justice.
    • Leadership skills to provide direction and support to staff, students, volunteers and participants.
    • Proven experience to collaborate and problem solve within a unionized environment.
    • Proven crisis intervention/management skills to defuse problematic situations and give direction and support to staff to do same.
    • Program planning and analytical skills to implement, evaluate and modify new and existing programs as needed.
    • Human resource management skills required for screening and selection process of staff, students and volunteers including the knowledge of and ability to apply Collective Agreement; Human Resource Policy and the Employment Standards Act.
    • Understanding of the many community organizations and supports available to adults
    • Understanding of the principles of proportionality and reparation as it relates to the justice system
    • Direct experience engaging with diverse populations and an ability to apply a culturally responsive lens to all interactions, including program implementation and capacity-building with participants
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders effectively, respectfully, and efficiently with minimal supervision
    • Regular reporting to funders, internal accounting, and fiscal management of the program budget.
    • Execute other responsibilities as necessary to achieve the objectives and deliverables of the program.
    • Ability to travel throughout the Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York regions and surrounding area

    Nice to Have's

    • Understanding of relevant legislation relating to adult including: Criminal Code of Canada, Practice Memorandum to Crown Counsel in the Criminal Law Division of the Ministry of the attorney General, Ontario
    • Experience in developing community-based interventions that respond to individual needs, and address prevention, rehabilitation, and reparation of harm.
    • Knowledge of the social service agencies operating in Halton, Peel, Toronto, and York and a willingness to broaden knowledge
    • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certificate, ASIST
