The Investigator contributes to the overall success of the Major Case Unit in Corporate Security globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Support the endtoend investigative process of major investigative cases, defined as matters involving organized criminal activity, highly complex or multijurisdictional fraud incidents impacting Scotiabank and its subsidiaries enterprise wide.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with representatives from other business lines, law enforcement agencies, industry associations, and financial institutions.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Post-secondary degree and/or university/college courses in business or law enforcement or equivalent training.
  • Strong knowledge of prevention, detection, and response strategies as well as criminal, and relevant Federal and Provincial Statutes and Regulations in all jurisdictions where the Bank operates in Canada.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and Analyst Notebook.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Investigative Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Crime Analysis.

Some more information you might want to know:

  • Operations, Employee Relations/Human Resources, Legal, Audit, Global Risk Management, Global AML, Privacy, Corporate Communications, Internal Controls.
  • Interactions with industry groups, Canadian police and intelligence agencies.
  • A high degree of discretion and judgment is required to make decisions and identify solutions for problems that can impact an investigation.
  • Independently develops action plans and is expected to manage with minimum direction and functions autonomously in daytoday issues.
