Corteva Agriscience is seeking hard working, motivated, and independent co-op student.

Responsibilities:

How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you

Assisting in the care and maintenance of greenhouse canola research trials.
Developing, researching, and running several projects (examples, banker plant systems for pest control, trialing new pesticides, trialing biologicals/toxicity testing of biologicals, new scouting methods) to contribute to the successful completion of canola research trials.
Contributing to the overall operation of the greenhouse, facility, and labs at the research station
Experiencing many offsite events and opportunities such as workshops, conferences, trade shows, and tours, as well as networking with external consultants and contractors.
Assist with the ISO/RMS program by completing regular calibrations of scientific equipment, reviewing documents and training materials, and prepare for audits.
Assist with sourcing inventory for all research groups on site.
Assisting with other projects onsite.
Maintenance, indoor and outdoor, grass cutting, snow shoveling, greenhouse repairs and upgrades.
Completion of training courses, examples include farmers assistant certificate, working at heights, fall protection.

Requirements:

What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Completion of 1st year Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, Microbiology, or similar program
Experience in a research facility and/or greenhouse is considered an asset
Grower Pesticide Safety Course certificate is considered an asset
Ability to work independently
Good time management, organizational and problemsolving skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Comfortable working in a variety of conditions
Good interpersonal skills
Meeting hosting/presentation skills
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
The research centre is located 20 minutes from Brampton, 25 minutes from Mississauga and 45 minutes from Guelph and Toronto. The facility is located on the corners of Mayfield and Mississauga Roads.
