    SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
    Person who is responsible for one or more programs with a view to providing professional assistance for the development of services. She/he conducts research activities that are necessary for identifying and assessing needs and resources. She/he designs and proposes development plans and programs in order to ensure adequate service planning. She/he provides advice concerning the implementation or improvement of programs and/or services. She/he may participate in various teaching or training activities.

    SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
    Under the supervision of the director of Youth Healing Services, in collaboration with the psychoeducator and the clinical advisors, the incumbent: * Analyzes the needs and develops programs of activities for youth in all facilities of Youth Healing Services, including Bush program;* He or she is responsible to develop the yearly calendar of activities, and to supervise and support its implementation in all facilities;* He or she makes links with other resources in the community to provide different programs to youth placed in YHS;* He or she also develops and implements the orientation program of YHS for new childcare workers as well as for new security staff;* The person also develops tools to support the implementation of policies and procedures, in respect with Cree healing practices and paradigms;* Produces various types of reports, including statistical data;* Assumes all other tasks at the request of his/her superior.

    REQUIREMENTS
    Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in economics, administrative or management, science, social science or another appropriate discipline. A master's degree in a social science is an asset.
      Experience:
    • Three years of relevant experience in social services, youth services, and more specifically with youth protection.

    Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Good knowledge of legislations, mainly Youth Protection Act and Youth Criminal Justice Act;
    • Demonstrated experience in planning, adapting, developing and implementing new programs, and maintaining existing programs;
    • Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering training to staff, both group sessions and individual coaching;
    • Experience working with individuals, families and community organizations;
    • Knowledge of the issues and context surrounding youth and family development in First Nation northern communities;
    • Ability to integrate Eenou/Eeyou (Cree) culture, values, traditions and teachings into programming;
    • Knowledge of First Nation health/social service models, trends and issues is an asset;
    • Knowledge of Cree culture, language, and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
    • Ability to work in collaboration with all colleagues;
    • Possess leadership skills in working with individuals and groups;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
    • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, planning and decision-making skills;
    • Must be autonomous and flexible;
    • Good working knowledge of computer applications, especially Microsoft Office.

    LANGUAGE* Fluent in English;
    * Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.

    OTHER* Willing to travel.
