The Philanthropy Assistant will work closely with the Donor Stewardship and Engagement Associate and the Director of Philanthropy to support the Philanthropy Department.

Responsibilities include processing donations, issuing tax receipts, cold calling for fundraising, coordinating and supporting fundraising events and administrative tasks.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in researching potential donors, sponsors and funding opportunities.
  • Support the development and execution of fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Provide administrative support to the philanthropy team, including data entry, recordkeeping and mailing.
  • Provide cold calling support to solicit new donors, reengage lapsed donors, retain existing donors and build donor loyalty by providing recommendations and alternative solutions to maintain a Donor's financial contribution.
  • Updating donation records and donor communication the CRM database.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor sensitive information.
  • Assist in all special events as required.
  • Communicate/ interact with all levels of staff and Donors.
  • Other administrative and special projects as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Director, Dixon Hall staff, volunteers, and partners.
  • Execute tasks in an efficient and clientfocused manner to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings and events.
  • Engage in regular meetings with the Director and other staff to discuss individual and team effectiveness.
  • Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and the Mission, Vision, and Values of Dixon Hall.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, postsecondary education.
  • Relevant work experience (placement opportunities included) in similar nonprofit environments is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in fundraising, donor relations, and donor databases (e.g. Raiser's Edge CRM or Sumac CRM) is an asset.
  • Customer service and cold calling experience is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, and customer service skills and can act with diplomacy and tact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet, and familiarity with using database programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, inclusion, access, and equity principles.
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow through skills with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fastpaced work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a 'Clear' or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have uptodate vaccinations against COVID19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada
