Job Overview:


Responsibilities:


  • Leading and lagging indicator reporting, providing guidance and coaching to client employees.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
  • Review and audit safety inspections.
  • Assist with Safe Work Practices, Procedures, Codes of Practice, and Job Hazard Assessment development and review.
  • Work with clients to ensure the issuing, receiving, and closing of safe work permits, hot work permits, confined spaces, etc., are administered and managed according to the client safety management program.
  • Administer and manage safety orientations where required.
  • Confirm site training requirements (ticket validation).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
  • Ensure the establishment of adequate control processes and implementation per local regulations. This may include supporting assessments of safety management systems, supporting risk assessments, and ensuring health and safety risks are properly understood and addressed.
  • Support and/or participate in investigations and followup of incidents.
  • Develop safetyrelated lessons learned for sharing.
  • Actively identify improvement opportunities within all areas of safety/health/security and emergency preparedness.
  • Assess compliance with applicable safety codes, procedures, relevant documentation, and commitments.
  • Participate in the investigation of safety, environmental, and regulatory incidents, working to improve and ensure compliance at the work location.
  • Create, conduct, or participate in Safety meetings and reports (i.e., job site inspection reports, incident/accident reports, tailgate meetings, JHSC meetings, and weekly/monthly meetings and associated signin and documentation) and encourage worker and field supervisor participation.
  • Ensure and assist with the communication of identified concerns and facilitate the appropriate signoff upon resolution. If appropriate, communicate learnings (i.e., safety bulletin, safety meeting discussion, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections/walkabouts to ensure compliance with all legislation and policies, standards, procedures, and rules.
  • Assist in satisfying all requirements of the Client Safety Management System.
  • Assist in the maintenance of emergency response plans, standards, procedures, and sitespecific work plans.

Qualifications:


  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience in health and safety management in the construction or manufacturing sectors.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Acts, Regulations, and Codes and how it pertains to daily field tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence teams.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, NCSO, and/or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) and/or Canadian Registered Safety Professional Designation (CRSP) is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to travel 50% of the time.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license (or equivalent).
