The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking an Enterprise Risk Management co-op student/intern for the Fall 2023 work term (September to December 2023) to provide support across a range of risk areas including strategic and operational risk management, and crisis management.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The ERM team consists of a Director, Senior Manager, and Manager. The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team is responsible for overseeing and providing leadership on all non-investment risk related activities. Beyond core Enterprise Risk Management, we also perform crisis management, and manage BCI's corporate insurance portfolio.
Your work will engage many critical stakeholders across the organization and influence decision makers in managing and overseeing BCI's key risks.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This work term will provide you the opportunity to learn from and assist the ERM Team on a range of initiatives.
During this work term you will:
- Work with the support of ERM management to research emerging risks, perform environmental scans, and monitor identified risks.-
- Enhance ERM's SharePoint capabilities by identifying and implementing improvement opportunities using SharePoint Online.
- Assisting in the secretariate function supporting two senior-level risk management committees
- Ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned by the team
REQUIRED SKILLS- Operates as a team player, but also comfortable working independently to complete work assignments- Demonstrates critical thinking skills combined with analytical and problem-solving abilities- Demonstrates an ability to gather and process information and present in a concise manner through Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality and attention to detail- Has a passion for learning in a diverse and ever-changing environment and a drive to increase knowledge of risk management.

Office Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BC- Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver Island- Travel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location- All co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office.
