regular full-time Marketing Coordinator. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies and the publication of School of Business + Media marketing products and services. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications (MARCOM) and Web Services teams, and the academic departments within the School, the Marketing Coordinator also co-ordinates special events, and maintains web and social media presence.

General:


  • In conjunction with the manager, develops proactive and strategic business partnerships within the School to develop marketing and communications programs and initiatives
  • Assists in the design and implementation of annual marketing programs that align to the institutional plan
  • Explores and recommends new technologies and best practices that advance the quality and value of social media interactions and client communication.
  • Meets regularly with key contacts and attends meetings within the school and departments
  • Monitors the effectiveness of products and services on a regular basis; brings forward recommendations, responds to client needs as they arise
  • Conducts interviews with stakeholders, clients, students and external customers to support and/or enhance the marketing and communication planning activities and initiatives.
  • Researches and advises on costs and alternative methods of increasing cost effectiveness
  • Reviews, researches and puts forward recommendations to improve marketing procedures,standards and protocols
  • Oversees and coordinates the documentation process for all school marketing and publication initiatives and activities including developing project plans, setting milestones, deliverables and outcomes
  • Assesses, analyses and supports the implementation of newly developed products and services, revises departmental processes and initiates training as required

Social Media Marketing

  • Acts as publisher for the school's website; uses content management system to design, write, test and launch web or landing pages for event promotion and updates
  • Improves page ranking and search results using current technology such as organic search engine optimization (SEO) and social media optimization (SMO) techniques
  • Coordinates traditional and nontraditional media content. Maintains current and relevant content on a blog, community site and social media tools.
  • Develops a system to monitor commentary and written communications about the school across all media channels
  • Sets a variety of campaign goals and goal tracking through web analytics; prepares and analyzes web statistics using current metrics tools.
  • Develops strong working relationships with the school's marketing strategist and Web Services to implement special web projects.

Marketing and Communications Coordination

  • Prepares and delivers industry or client specific presentations with the School's Marketing team.
  • Works with program heads and Marketing and Communications to create and place advertisements to attract potential students and faculty.
  • Coordinates and monitors client tracking activities in the CRM system.
  • Implements selected projects with various internal clients including developing project proposals and plans for web related partnerships and linkages.
  • In conjunction with the Student Recruiter, maintains client information in CRM system
  • Designs script and graphics for the school and program websites using existing templates as required by ITS and MARCOM
  • Participates in Records Custodian training and remains current with record keeping practices, policies and procedures (both BCIT and FOIPOP)
  • Undertakes related duties as assigned, consistent with the job grade of this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:


Entrance:


  • Diploma of Technology specializing in marketing and/or communications including current formal training and courses in internet marketing, technical and marketing writing, web, video editing and, basic HTML.

Experience:


  • Two years general marketing experience plus two years practical current experience in a similar position.

Software/Computer Application(s) and Expertise:


  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and content management system editing skills; working knowledge of enterprise level customer relationship management (CRM) systems
  • Demonstrated experience launching and tracking campaigns through social media channels
  • Experience using web analytics, online business optimization platforms, and diagramming and process mapping software

Communication/Interpersonal Skills:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships by exercising tact and diplomacy while delivering the highest levels of customer service
