Are you a technical person who enjoys promoting and sharing own experience, lessons learned, best practices and expertise across the organization?


In this role, you will indirectly provide direction and mentorship for project evaluations in Liquids Pipelines, Gas Distribution and Storage and Gas Transmission & Midstream and Power related infrastructure.


What you will do:
The key task of this role will be evaluating and diagnosing projects identified as not on track to meet stated business objectives that are assigned by Projects Leadership


The process will involve:

  • Mobilization this will be triggered by Projects Leadership when a project is experiencing cost pressure, schedule pressure, scope or development issues, nontechnical risk, or execution issues.
  • Diagnostics this will involve interacting with the project team to understand the concerns, issues, and complications present.
  • Recovery plan producing a plan for the project including supporting and monitoring implementation of the plan.
  • Lessons learned capturing lessons learned, informed by the implemented recovery plan, for future projects and deploying any corrective actions that result.

Operational Leadership:

  • Works closely with the project development and/or project execution team, and key business unit partners to evaluate current state of assigned projects.
  • Conducts evaluations of projects, provides input/feedback/recommendations, and develops lessons learned for implementation.
  • Develops well thought out improvement plans tied to the root cause analysis work completed, identifying key partners that need to understand and agree with the plans. Maps out RAPID decision framework with assignments and due dates to see improvement areas through to completion and report to senior leadership.
  • Provides guidance and promotes consistency across the company with regards to engineering, construction and project controls practices and processes. This includes working closely with the Projects Management Office (PMO) and Projects Technical Management Office (PTMO) on a regular basis.

Who you are:

  • Engineering degree or diploma or equivalent formal technical education background focused on the resource industry, project management and construction.
  • Minimum ten or more years of progressively responsible working experience in the pipeline industry, including a strong working knowledge of pipeline and facilities engineering, construction, and project controls principles, and/or project management experience in North America.
  • Effective communication both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal partners, and engineering contractors. Strong written communications abilities, including preparation of ELT and Board of Directors quality of documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, conflict resolution and people skills.
  • Predict obstacles, challenges and risks to proactively determine mitigation strategies and innovative solutions to problems.
