JOB OVERVIEW: LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES SUPPORT ANALYST The Learning Technologies Support Analyst provides system and application administration and instructional and technical support for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of KPUs learning technology systems and technologies. The Analyst investigates and troubleshoots problems with institutionally supported systems and technologies; responds to technology service requests; provides assistance to users that have instructional and content creation questions related to the University's Learning Management System and other technologies; provides information resources, support and training to KPU faculty and instructors and other educators on the institutionally supported learning management system and learning technologies. As a member of the learning technology team, this position is also responsible for researching, maintaining currency and reporting on designated existing and emerging learning technologies and systems and for producing user documentation. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Undergraduate degree in computing with courses in educational technology and/or a related field, and a minimum of three years of experience providing support on institutionally-supported classroom or online learning technology systems or tools (e.g. Moodle, Katura, Voice Threads, etc.); testing and evaluation of instructional systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • Five years of progressive experience in application systems development and application and/or system administration with:
    • Working experience of Linux, Apache, MySQL and MySQL administration.
    • Familiarity with account management and directory services such as LDAP and Active Directory.
    • Familiarity with installation and upgrade of Apache, MySQL, PHP and OpenLDAP
    • Thorough understanding of web applications.
    • Working knowledge of software QA and testing.
    • Working experience with HTML and CSS
    • Familiarity with good programming practices, PHP an asset.
    • Working knowledge of relational databases and the use of related development and administration tools.
    • Familiarity with open source initiatives.
    • Knowledge of multimedia software, hardware, and processes an asset.
    • Familiarity with online learning and course management systems.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Thorough knowledge of principles of computer systems analysis and design, application development and programming techniques.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain respectful collegial, consultative and collaborative relationships across the university and with external stakeholders.
    • Able to diagnose and resolves problems associated with the institutionally supported learning technologies and instructional uses and challenges with associated technologies.
    • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and software.
    • Ability to prioritize projects, work quickly, accurately and thoroughly with attention to detail, in an environment of frequent interruptions and demanding timelines.
    • Takes initiative, is proactive, resourceful, creative and solution-oriented, committed to continuous improvement and professional development and possesses analytical reasoning, planning, project management, and organizational skills.
    • Good knowledge of web graphic and multimedia formats and other technical components of online learning development and delivery.
    • Good understanding of current and emerging technologies and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially the ability to translate and explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to arrange transportation to various campuses and off-campus locations and flexibility to adjust work hours as required.
    • Possession of valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is required

    Salary Information

    Annual salary increases are based on hours worked and anniversary dates
