SALARY:
$26.69 to $27.90 per hour

CUPEstaff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing August 3, 2023 and closing at 11:59PM on August 11, 2023.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


In support of the Mental Health Program core values, mission and vision, you as a Secretary, perform an integral role supporting certain components of the program.

The Secretary assists in the processing of patients through phone screening, registration, booking appointments, and general reception duties; provides data entry, prepares correspondence, interacts with referral sources, prepares patient related information material, prepares and maintains program records and data as required.

The Secretary ensures that ordering of supplies and requisitions are completed in a timely fashion. The Secretary facilitates public relations and a high level of communication between program staff. The Secretary performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
  • Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested
  • Intermediate level);
  • Experience inputting data into database;
  • Proven keyboarding skills of 40 wpm (tested);
  • Knowledge of Meditech, including MOX, Admissions Module, PCI, and Payroll;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and function independently with minimum supervision;
  • Proven problemsolving and time management skills;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to interact effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, public, clients and their families;
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding, empathy and tact;
  • Proven ability to assess inquiries and to exercise good judgement in making the appropriate referrals while effectively maintaining confidentiality;
  • Must have satisfactory performance record;
  • Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular inservice education sessions in this area; and
  • Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:


The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.


Successful applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
