The Canadian Finance Reporting & Analysis (CR&A) team is responsible for the internal and external reporting & control needs of the Canadian Executive team (CET), CFO, Board of Directors, and Investors.

The main focus is supporting the monthly and quarter end financial close periods for SL Canada while ensuring results are accurate and complete.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, Canadian Reporting & Analysis, the incumbent will be responsible for the consolidation and preparation of key internal reporting deliverables for SL Canada.

Through their involvement with the Business Units (BUs) and Support Units, the individual will develop a broad knowledge of the various Canadian BUs, their products, and key metrics.

The incumbent will also directly contribute towards maintaining a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment.

What will you do?

Support key quarterend financial processes for SL Canada including Account Balance Confirmation and Reasonability Assessment, comprehensive income sweeps and coordination/settlement of intercompany accounts;
Prepare and process manual journal entries to support the monthly and quarter end processes;
Maintain and develop End User Applications, automated spreadsheets/tools used to support key CR&A deliverables and controls;
Provide support to the business units including processing security requests, COV and Ledger support;
Maintain data integrity by running proper control checks and maintaining data bases;
Develop strong partnerships and collaborate effectively with the Canadian business and support units, Canadian Actuarial, and our Corporate office to deliver all accounting requirements;
Continuous focus on value through the development and improvement of business processes and documentation;
Support in performing critical tasks across the Canadian Finance Reporting and Analysis team including providing additional support to team members during the quarterly close process as required;
Provide support for strategic Canadian and/or Corporate projects and initiatives;
Prepare and support ad hoc requests as required.

What you need to succeed?

Hold or working towards a professional accounting designation or equivalent, with 23+ years of jobrelated experience;
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with keen attention to details;
Ability to prioritize and effectively organize tasks to meet tight deadlines;
Ability to proactively communicate well and present ideas/decisions clearly both verbally and in writing;
Adaptable, team player with a focus on the voice of the Client.

Assets:

Strong understanding of SLF Canada operations, products and services;
Experience with financial reporting systems and tools (e.g. SAP, AFO, Tableau, Oracle, Hyperion);
Business knowledge and experience related to the Insurance and/or financial services industry;
Experience in a medium to large size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business.

Unique Requirements:

Some overtime during peak periods will be required.
