Job Summary


A Brief Overview

The Housing and Ancillary Services team manages 4,940 student beds in 18 residence buildings, as well as off-campus rental apartment and housing properties, three dining halls, numerous retail food service locations on campus, the Donald Gordon Hotel and Conference Centre and Event Services.

Residence buildings also provide temporary accommodations for the summer conference, events and tourism markets. Revenue and services from these units support vital student life programs and contribute to the University's learning environment.


The Coordinator, Sales & Marketing is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of sales and marketing initiatives and materials for areas within the portfolio.

The incumbent works in close contact with the Event Coordinators (Event Services) and the University food services contractors to ensure cohesive service.

The Coordinator works with internal and external clients and partners to support and/or develop sales, event, and program proposals, with a goal to progressively increase annual revenue while adhering to established profit margins.

This position calculates sales revenue and develops proposals and contracts related to revenue-generating events. This position also promotes facility rentals, both internally and externally, and produces applicable marketing materials.


Job Description:


What you will do

  • Develops comprehensive sales proposals and contracts.
  • Calculates sales revenue by analyzing services and potential margins.
  • Generates contracts for new business while adhering to compliance standards.
  • Follows up on all sales opportunities to ensure client retention and relationship management.
  • Develops and produces advanced monthly sales reports for current and future sales activity.
  • Establishes and maintains comprehensive client files.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of a cost matrix to support the budget and planning processes.
  • Identifies sales and marketing retreat opportunities with management.
  • Participates in related field associations and committees, including attending trades shows, workshops and sales visits.
  • Creates digital marketing materials for webpages and social media accounts and ensures that content meets applicable style guide and accessibility standards.
  • Conducts site tours with prospective clients, prepares contracts and payment schedules.
  • Coordinates events.
  • Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.

Required Education

  • Threeyear Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree, or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • More than 2 years and up to and including 3 years of experience.
  • Experience planning, coordinating and/or managing events or promotions considered an asset. and
  • Experience developing, coordinating and producing promotional and marketing material considered an asset. and
  • Experience developing and managing marketing plans considered an asset.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Vulnerable Sector Screening required.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check required.
  • G Driver's Licence required.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
