Under the direction of the General Manager, this position is responsible for all payroll, pension and benefits, accounts payable, misc.

statutory reporting, administrative duties, supervision, and coordination and execution of all financial related activities of the Canadian operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll/HR:


  • Coordinate and prepare paperwork for hiring, rehiring, layoff, terminations, and all status changes, including preemployment testing, physicals, and background/credit checks.
  • Orient new employees to company policies, procedures, and benefits.
  • Assist employees with questions regarding payroll, health insurance, leave of absences and other benefits.
  • Prepare and input biweekly and semimonthly payroll in Ceridian system.
  • Onboards new hire/rehired employees and updates all status changes in SuccessFactors (HRIS).
  • Coordinates communication concerning payroll with employees, supervisors, and managers.
  • Employee timecard audit.
  • Keep abreast of wage and hourly payroll regulations.
  • Prepare and reconcile T4's
  • Create and remit Workers Compensation Board, Employee Health Tax, and Benefits filings in a timely manner.

Accounts Payable:


  • Manage accounts payable process including supervision of AP Clerk.
  • Create new vendors.
  • Audit invoices for accuracy and work to resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure appropriate account coding.

Financial:


  • Prepare and submit monthly accounts payable accruals.
  • Weekly / monthly procedural audits.
  • Cost Center Analysis.
  • Statutory reporting as required.
  • Budget preparation support.
  • Manufacturing reconciliation support.

Misc
:


  • Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Assists with company social activities including company luncheons, Adopt-AFamily events, etc.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative.
  • Regular, predictable and consistent attendance is required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Appropriate fouryear degree program in accounting, finance, or business administration and/or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Provincial and Federal wage and hourly regulations with regards to payroll highly desirable.
  • 35 years of experience using payroll software (Ceridian is desirable).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience with Success Factors HRIS system a plus.
