About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Director of Policy and Planning, Nutrition and Food Services (NFS), the Manager of Provincial Standards and Initiatives supports the work of the Director in the planning, development and evaluation of policies, procedures, and initiatives that support Nutrition and Food Services strategic goals and outcomes.

The Manager is responsible for identifying and assessing evidence-informed practice standards and embedding in policies, procedures, and initiatives for NFS.

The Manager has a collaborative leadership role in advancing continuous quality improvement and the integration of nutrition care and food service and for patients, residents, and clients in both institutional, ambulatory and community settings.

The Manager collaborates as part of the NFS leadership team and engages key representatives and stakeholders in implementing key standards such as the Nutrition Care Process and Terminology; National Malnutrition Prevention, Detection, and Treatment Standards; Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists:
Nutrition Prescription Standards, and NFS Services Diet Standards.

The Manager is responsible for planning, development, and evaluation of NFS policies, procedures, and initiatives.

The Manager applies in-depth scientific knowledge of food and human nutrition and the social determinants of health informed by principals of equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation, reparations, accessibility, and anti-racism.

The Manager supports safe, competent, high-quality, ethical, person-centered nutrition care and services that complies with applicable policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements.

The Manager ensures compliance with therapeutic nutrition requirements and restrictions to address patient, resident, and client medical needs and positive nutritional outcomes.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics required
  • Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program required
  • Current licensure with Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists or eligible for license in Nova Scotia
  • Five (5) years' progressive management experience in healthcare as a dietitian in addition to having clinically related practice experience
  • Experience in scope of practice for dietitians, dietetic technicians, and food service supervisors, and food service management (patient and retail)
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and decisionmaking skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with all levels of staff and clients including those internal and external to the organization
  • Ability to interpret statistical data, and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships
  • Experience in leading change
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and standards
  • Crosscultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Must have reliable means of transportation for required travel

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $51.54 Hourly
