Job Summary

Reporting to the Shop Supervisor (Carpentry) or a Zone Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for all paintrelated work on the University campus.

Key Responsibilities

Performs all general maintenance and renovation assignments related to the painting trade
Performs repairs to different surfaces such as wood, plaster, drywall, etc.
Performs all duties in accordance with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act, as well as University and Government rules and regulations
Maintains a clean work environment
Performs other duties as required

Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work inperson on campus. Dalhousie's vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination. Required Qualifications

Valid course in painting techniques or equivalent experience required
Five years recent and related experience required
Ability to work at heights
Ability to matchin texture and colour of surfaces such as walls, ceilings, and furniture etc.
Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints
Proficiency in the use of paint spraying equipment
Familiarity with current industry products and techniques (ie: twocomponent paints, epoxy coatings, waterborne paints, stains and coatings, etc.)
Familiar with the current Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as University and Government rules and regulations
Ability to take direction
Ability to direct others in foreperson capacity preferred
Knowledge in the use of microcomputers preferred
Reliable and punctual
Good communication and organizational skills
Knowledge of the tools of the trade
Must be willing and able to work overtime, as required
General safety, Fall Protection and WHMIS training an asset
