    What Does a System Development Engineer Do at Amazon?

    As aSystem Development EngineerwithinAWS Security, you will develop and maintainrobust, scalable systemsat the core of Amazon's global security infrastructure. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in system development, software engineering, and security-centric thinking. Here, you'll tackle complex projects that require both strategic insight and hands-on development.

    You'll work as part of aclose-knit, agile teamtasked with designing, implementing, and managing systems that protect Amazon's cloud infrastructure. This role demands someone capable of navigating ambiguous challenges and making strategic decisions that balance immediate objectives with long-term security goals.

    Key Responsibilities at AWS Security Operations Centre

    Within this role, you will be engaged in:

    • Writing high-quality, efficient, and secure codefor Amazon's systems.
    • Designing and buildinghighly available, distributed systemsthat support Amazon's global security operations.
    • Taking ownership of the services you build fromdevelopment to deployment, ensuring they meet standards of operational excellence.
    • Collaborating with anagile team of engineersto improve processes and address complex security challenges.
    • Contributing to the design and architecture ofinnovative security solutionsthat scale with Amazon's needs.

    Basic Qualifications for System Development Engineer at Amazon

    We are looking for individuals who meet the following qualifications:

    • 3+ yearsof professional experience in software development (non-internship).
    • 3+ yearsof experience in designing or architecting scalable systems.
    • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such asC++, Java, Python,orPowerShell.
    • Experience withCI/CD pipeline build processesand systems engineering.
    • Hands-on experience withnetworking, storage systems, and operating system administration.

    Preferred Qualifications for Increased Career Advancement

    The following skills are highly desirable, though not required:

    • Experience withWindows automationusing PowerShell.
    • Deep understanding ofActive Directoryand large-scale Windows deployments.
    • 4+ yearsof programming experience with modern languages such asC#, Ruby,orGolang.
    • Familiarity withengineering best practicesand patterns for the complete software lifecycle.
