    Position Summary

    The Technology Systems Automation Lead is part of the Program Technical Team and an extension of the project information management team liaising with, Design Consultants, the Client, and the wider project team.

    This role requires the person to demonstrate leadership in the area of engineering, assurance, T&C and handover delivery processes and information management, with proven ability to engage and drive both training and delivery across multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience with digital delivery along with having excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an enthusiasm for team and self-development.

    Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate closely with Engineering to ensure alignment and integration with BIM requirements, including the BIM Lead(s) at 3rd Party engineering consultants and/or construction firms
  • Ensure the tool selection and deployment, data requirements and structure, and project automation and integration plan support the overall project execution plan
  • Work closely with the functional heads (Assurance, Engineering, Interface Management, Handover and Testing & Commissioning) teams to understand life-cycle information requirements (both graphical and non-graphical)
  • Liaise with Project Information Management central team to ensure the implementation of the Project Information Model for use across each stage of the Project: Ensure the Project Information Model meets the client information requirements and industry wide standards Ensure project IT and automation aligns to the Project Information Model Review Functional Project Procedures to ensure alignment with the Project Information Model
  • Ensure adequate training is provided on the use of the Project Information Model and associated tools and processes to assist its deployment, including engagement with off-Project subject matter experts
  • Conduct regular assessments to review the implementation of the Information Management Plan with the SEA team and to seek opportunities for improvement
  • Use automation and reporting to monitor and maintain highest level of data quality and accuracy
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement and Construction ensuring the continuity and appropriate level of detail is produced to support each of the Project phases
  • Ensure the implementation of the Common Data Environment (CDE) within the SEA team, including relevant standards on its use and application across the Project
  • Receive and understand the client information requirements and coordinates with Project functional teams to maintain the Project Delivery Matrix, including key coding structures such as Work Breakdown and asset classification codes, in alignment with client requirements and the Project Information Management team requirements
  • Liaise with client stakeholders to exchange and ensure information requirements are met
  • Support the PIIM Manager to champion, develop, and implement innovation across the Project. Contribute leadership to establishing a culture for ideas and improvement opportunities to be raised, considered, and implemented. Continually seek ways in which the Project Information Model, Automation Plan, and digital toolkit can be utilized to improve safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Qualifications and Skills

    Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management with 4+ years equivalent of experience in Rail Design/Construction projects (2years experience as a BIM Manager/BIM lead leveraging and managing technology in design and construction, would be advantageous).
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with collaboration and data management solutions: ProjectWise, BIM 360 Suite, Navisworks, 3D/BIM-enabled quantity takeoff and BIM-enabled estimating tools
  • Industry BIM Certification
  • Demonstrate understanding of ISO 19650 Information Management Principles and Framework
  • Knowledge of Design-Bid-Build, Design/Build, Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), LEAN and other modern contractual delivery methods
  • Understands project workflows from design, estimation, construction administration and coordination
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain digital transformation and digital solutions and technologies to all levels of the organization.
