    *About the opportunity:

    The Occupational Health & Safety, environment (OH&S / environment) advisor is responsible for developing, executing and monitoring the Environment, Health and Safety programs for the plant in line with Lactalis internal standards and local regulatory requirements.

    The advisor works with the site leadership team to develop an EHS culture on site and improve the overall EHS performance.

    *The attributes we are looking for:
    • Support the development, implementation, communication, and management of EHS standards, programs, and policies in order to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and conformance to internal Lactalis standards through various associations, websites, and preparing training and information materials.
    • Supports the site management team with monthly (or more frequent as defined by the site) EHS performance review and action plan follow-ups to ensure effective site EHS risk management and EHS program implementation.
    • In collaboration with the site team, complete annual review of Health, Safety and environment program and advises on EHS site-specific plans by gathering and presenting information such as data on accident history, and audit results/findings, and maintaining information in the EHS database.
    • Facilitate incident investigations and root cause analysis to understand incidents, ensure learnings are identified and appropriate action plans are developed. Act as a coach for supervisors and managers on the incident management process.
    • Facilitate site and task specific EHS risk assessments and act as a subject matter expert.
    • Field presence to support execution of the different EHS programs, conduct site walk arounds with supervisors and managers and act as a coach on the behavior observation program and educate the leadership on the various EHS standards.
    • Develop EHS reports and present to site management team with recommendations.
    • Develop EHS communications to facilitate sharing of site EHS performance and raising awareness on various EHS topics.
    • Assist local Human Resources department or site staff to identify EHS training materials and best practice in EHS training tracking by gathering materials used at sites and maintaining in the EHS database.
    • Supports the delivery of health, safety, and environment training.
    • Act as the facility's primary contact for all environmental and OHS regulatory officials (Federal, Provincial, Municipal).
    • Participate with corporate EHS team in conducting audits at both corporate and facility level by gathering information, taking notes, preparing draft report, and following up on action plans preparation after the audit report is submitted. Prepare the audit material by summarizing last audit findings for availability to auditors to reference when required.
    • Identify and ensure prompt and appropriate action is taken to resolve site specific environmental issues
    *What you will bring:
    • Minimum of Five(5) years' experience in an industrial setting
    • Good knowledge of the major risks such as machine safety, lockout/tagout, confined space, powered industrial trucks, work at Height, chemical management, and ergonomics.
    • Training in incident investigation is an asset.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills – ability to work with contacts at multiple sites to achieve project goals.
    • Ability to gather, analyze and interpret information and make recommendations for policy or procedure improvements.
    • Knowledge of legislation, regulations, related to Health & Safety and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) and on environmental issues.
    • Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office products and the Internet.
    • English and French is an asset
