Who We Are


Helping Spirit Lodge Society (HSLS) is a not-for-profit organization founded because of the community discussions and decisions made during community forums through 1990.

The United Native Nations originally sponsored the first project and opened office for the society on February 1, 1990. The organization provides wrap-around services to Women and Children fleeing violence.


Job Summary


The position responsible for assuring HSLS's Outreach Program is high performing, functions in accordance with the agency's standards of excellence, mission, contractual requirements, and governing laws.

This position is responsible for expanding and developing and implementing a variety of holistic and cultural programming to assist individuals in overcoming the effects of violence in their lives, in gaining control of their lives and becoming productive member of their community.

The Program Coordinator will perform all work in a culturally responsive manner consistent with the HSLS mission and guiding principles.

Oversee case planning and intensive case management worker activities. Participate in general HSLS staff activities and specific duties as assigned.


Responsibilities

  • Overseeing a comprehensive array of housing services for Individuals; housing placement, housing loss prevention
  • Run a community kitchen that will train individuals to serve, cook with the goal of catering to other events and special events. Clients will receive honorariums for set up and take down and cleaning
  • Overseeing and coordinating day to day operation of the HSLS Outreach Team.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with partner agencies and other stakeholders through meetings, networking, training, technical assistance, and dissemination of public policy and Housing First information.
  • Supervising multilevel staff: provide leadership to program staff to assure daily program operations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with a variety of public and private contracts and Agency standards.
  • Assuring program performance and outcome data is collected on an accurate and timely basis.
  • Provide Culturally relevant responses to assist Urban Indigenous Individuals.
  • Working with HSLS Management, Housing, Property Management, Transitional Housing and other HSLS department's staff to assure services are provided in accordance with HSLS mission and objectives.
  • Measure services to performance goals and evaluate effectiveness of services.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Social Work, Psychology or any related field.
  • Five (23) years of experience in a supervisory position in affordable housing field that includes supervisory experience and/or working with homeless
  • Excellent communication skills including public speaking skills, one on one interpersonal skills, writing skills and computer skills. These skills will be demonstrated with clear communicate (in written and spoken form), the ability to communicate the policies and philosophies of the agency in a professional manner and the ability to work effectively with staff, clients of all income levels, community members and funders.
  • Ability to understand, prepare and monitor financial reports and program budgets; including strong spreadsheet and database skills and the analytical skills needed to think strategically and understand complex government regulations and housing law.
