The Analysis & Simulation engineering function provides a vital role in Ultra's complex engineering projects.
The engineers use technical expertise and knowledge of computer simulation technologies to test the performance, durability, and functionality of engineering solutions in a virtual environment.
They also perform testing in non virtual environments to support product qualification. A professional at this grade possesses knowledge for specific fields and performs structured work assignments. Uses established procedures to solve problems by making judgments and gets work done with quality under moderate supervision. Has limited discretion to vary from established procedures.
As a Domain Specialist in Sonar System Modelling and Analysis you will be expected to provide analysis and advice on various sonar projects as well as being able to support and substantiate solutions to a technical audience.
The Domain Specialist in Sonar System Modelling and Analysis will be responsible for the following:
- Create and run models of various sonar systems to predict expected system performance and behaviors.
- To interpret customer and system requirements to generate specifications for transducers.
- Develop sonar system models to demonstrate that they meet expected performance and physical behaviors.
- Simulate sonar performance in appropriate underwater environments.
- Assist in the execution of validation and verification of sensor designs.
- Develop broad knowledge of Ultra's sonar capabilities.
- Assist in developing the technical specifications for programme bids.
- Produce high quality documentation to satisfy customer needs and educate others.
- Contribute to Ultra sensor roadmaps and R&D developments.
Requirements:
- Graduate degree (Masters degree minimum) in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics
- Related Analysis and/or modelling experience in sonar, radar, or other sensor systems
- Demonstrated understanding of the scientific method
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Occasional Travel may be required (14 weeks in a typical per year)
- May need to spend short periods away for trials or customer meetings
Desired Skills:
- Experience in using commercially or openly available modelling software such as: COMSOL, AnSYS, Matlab Simulink, Orcaflex, Proteus DS, Gazebo, Bellhop or other acoustic modelling software
- Strong communication and able to work within a team
