Job Summary:

Portage Aircraft Specialties is the exclusive Canadian agricultural retail dealership for Air Tractor Inc with Portage Aircraft Maintenance maintaining the Air Tractor inventory and providing customer support to aerial applicators across Canada.

The Parts Assistant is responsible for supporting the Storekeeper with daily operations and managing inventory based on demand and cost targets.

This is a 1 yr Term position with full time possibilities. The position comes with a competitive base salary. Start date negotiable.


Responsibilities & duties

  • Be able to work within a fast paced aircraft stores department and assist with daily operations.
  • Handling, inspecting and logging aircraft parts
  • Work efficiently within tight deadlines.
  • Distribute aircraft parts, consumables and tooling to the engineers
  • Monitoring the shelf life of items in inventory and inspecting a wide range of aircraft parts
  • Monitor tooling for calibration.
  • Assist with anticipating parts needs considering future needs, trends, and suggested stock orders.
  • Ensuring all items arrive safely and are stored in the correct location.
  • In cooperation with Administrative Staff, maintain accurate records of parts replaced under warranty and details of faulty parts.
  • Maintain a tidy working environment
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate and effective parts inventory control system
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and managers. Assist with processing invoices for Maintenance department through aircraft inventory system so Stores Keeper can effectively record and evaluate the movement of parts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1+ years experience in a related industry and basic understanding of principles relative to a busy parts department operation
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems, inventory management practices and procedures and/or skill for learning specialized computer programs
  • Is a detailoriented individual comfortable with inventory work
  • Excellent customer service skills: must be peopleoriented and willing and able to ask customers questions
  • Ability to effectively work as a member of a team
  • Must be capable of working independently, successfully managing his or her time and work flow.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends.

Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months


Salary:
$16.06-$27.98 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

- parts management: 1 year (preferred)
