As part of our strategy to provide on-going support for our schools, the Board is now accepting resumes from qualified applicants for the full-time position of Team Lead, Maintenance Services.


Main Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Team Lead, Maintenance Services is to plan and coordinate the maintenance of Board facilities (e.g. architectural, mechanical, electrical systems and projects) by undertaking regular reviews of maintenance processes, products and services. Manage the requirements of related legislation, regulation and Board policy (0e.g. Safe Drinking Water Act, Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Green Energy Act, Technical Standards & Safety Authority, Electrical Safety Authority).

Perform contract administration, field inspections and provide general supervision to contractors and trades while liaising with school principals and regulatory agencies to support school safety and security.


Functions as project manager/supervisor for assigned projects and/or maintenance tasks; administers contracts; supervises contractors and/or Board staff in the field; resolves problems that arise; ensures work is performed according to specifications and quality standards; provides progress reports to supervisors; ensures work is completed on schedule.

Act as liaison with various provincial bodies and assists with the approvals process for all authorities having jurisdiction. Establish and maintain contacts with Municipal administration i.e. Building, Bylaw and Fire Inspectors and service personnel i.e., hydro, gas, water, sewer services.


Submit changes regarding building structure and equipment, both indoors and on school grounds for the purposes of updating Building Operation Manuals.

Submit site plan updates to Facilities Services Department for software updates (i.e. E-Base).

Maintain current knowledge of applicable standards, acts, codes and regulations relating to responsibility areas, to ensure regulatory compliance (e.g. Safe Drinking Water Act, Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Green Energy Act, Technical Standards & Safety Authority, Electrical Safety Authority).

Monitor invoices for anomalies and suggest corrective action.


Responds to emergency calls including but not limited to flooding, plugged sewers, poor heating or ventilation, power loss, roof leaks, broken windows, by visiting facility or dispatching service personnel as needed to resolve problem.


Contributes to department-wide planning and development efforts for improvements in energy conservation; identifies priorities for implementation of various utility conservation systems and maintenance service programs.

Maintain contact and provide information between Schools, Facilities Services Management and Supervisors for projects, maintenance requests and budget preparation.


Acts as a regular liaison with Principal, Vice-principal, Custodial Supervisor and custodial staff regarding scheduling, status, quality of work and contractors at the school.


Provides and monitors to ensure an adequate inventory of supplies and material required, prepares material lists, arranges for and approves orders for parts to fulfil responsibilities.

Ensure timely completion of projects to provide schools and Board facilities with properly functioning mechanical, electrical repairs.
Attends to problems in order to maintain customer service standards.
