Description

The ECE Lead will guide a team of ECEs in an environment designed to guide and care for children using a strength-based and family-centred approach, facilitating safe, play-based intentional learning in accordance with the Aboriginal Head Start curriculum.

The ECE Lead will also aid the AHS Coordinator in their everyday tasks and will step in as their designate when needed.

Ongoing


HOURS OF WORK:
30-35 hours per week, core hours 7:30 am - 4:30 pm all, all year,
Additional hours available as opportunities arise


WORK LOCATION:
Aldergrove


COMPENSATION:
$ $34.25/hour, commensurate with education and experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Early Childhood Educator Certificate with current license to practice required
  • Post-Basic Infant Toddler Educator and Special Needs Educator certificates an asset (will train)
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR/AED Level B (Infant/Child) or higher
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Help train, provide guidance and feedback regarding AHS to ECEs and aid the coordinator with their tasks as directed
  • Ability to communicate effectively and use Microsoft Office365 (Word, SharePoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to perform tasks involving moderate physical activity in working at a childcare facility, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling and lifting of children, toys and equipment
  • Ability to show empathy and bond effectively with children and their families
  • Must be wellversed in cultural sensitivity and have understanding and knowledge of Aboriginal culture, traditions and historical issues impacting urban Indigenous families
  • Must be able to work in a team setting, take direction, and be willing to mentor assistants and volunteers
  • Must successfully complete Criminal Record Review for work with children and vulnerable adults
