    Position Overview

    This incumbent is responsible for acting on behalf of the Directors of Patient Services and other senior management in their absence. The Supervisor provides clinical and administrative support to staff and assists the Director of Patient Services with the management of nursing resources required for the priorization of care on specified units. Acts as the senior administrative person on-site for a hospital(s) during evenings/nights/weekends.

    Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' recent, related, nursing experience required (specific recent experience may be required in designated areas).
  • Previous experience in nursing administration preferred.
  • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate from an approved School of Nursing required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree required.
  • An equivalent baccalaureate degree in the opinion of the Centre will be considered.
  • Successful completion of a relevant Post-Basic Program may be required or preferred in designated areas.
  • Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of management principles.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of nursing evidence based practice.
  • General knowledge of regulations guiding nursing practice.
  • Working knowledge of legislation governing health care.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically think, analyze, conceptualize and apply relevant knowledge to practice.
  • Expert organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently within multiple health care teams.
  • Effective communication skills – oral and written.
  • Ability to facilitate the professional development of staff, through mentoring and application of adult learning principles.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values. This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
