What you'll do

  • This opportunity is for a P3 Work Program Manager who will supplement the existing Stations Capital and
  • Telecommunications Capital team (one WPM each) and will oversee program and project management activities related to
- the replacement and refurbishment of BC Hydro assets across various substations and telecommunication sites.
  • Management (PCM) group of BC Hydro. Our group deliver several small to medium scale capital and maintenance
- programs for Generations, Stations, Telecommunication and Dam Safety projects with 50+ professionals delivering over
- $250Mn worth of work each year.

  • Work Program Manager responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Directly manage delivery of a portfolio ranging from $2M
  • $10M on an annual basis.
  • Oversee the work of external delivery partners for engineering, project management and construction management
consultants.- Develop program plans to articulate scope, budget, schedule, and program team responsibilities to accomplish program

objectives.- Manage the implementation of the program and monitor progress to ensure the work is carried out in a cost-effective

manner using program management principles.- Ensure internal and external resources are assigned, establishes contracts where required, assigns work and provides


instructions and guidance to work program management team.- Review work in progress and assesses completed work for accuracy, required results and quality assurance.


  • Forecast and report progress, variance and mitigation plans to Senior Management, clients and delivery partners.

by using advanced skills in Microsoft Office as well as project management programs to fulfill BC Hydro's business needs.- Represent BC Hydro as the "Contract Owner" or the "Hydro Rep" on construction or equipment contracts.

Support project

teams to reduce BC Hydro's exposure to contract claims and participate in contract and claim negotiations with suppliers
- and contractors.
  • Establish standards for implementation and monitoring using excellent analytical skills and a comprehensive knowledge of


project management practices and procedures to optimize project resources.- Develop and maintain business and process improvements and either lead or be part of at least 2 initiatives per year.


What you bring- Experience with Hydro Electric infrastructure projects, specifically in smaller generation, sub
- stations & transmission ($1M

  • 10M budgets)
  • Intermediate technical knowledge and/or Bachelors degree in a specific field (i.e. Engineering, Technical, Trade, Business
or Sciences) with some general knowledge of other fields.- Three (3) - five (5) years of progressively more responsible Project Management experience within electric utility,

engineering firm, construction contractor or similar environment.contracting strategies.- Proven leadership ability in managing, motivating, and developing a team.

  • Welldeveloped communication, facilitation, negotiation and interpersonal skills along with demonstrating planning,
organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
