Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Communications, the Director is responsible for developing, implementing and the ongoing monitoring and measurement of corporate communications.

This role drives the internal communications strategy throughout the organization, but also works closely with the head of external relations to integrate programming.

You will work closely with your team of three internal communications advisors and with leaders across the organization to bring strategic communications, employee engagement, change management and integrated communications campaigns to life and advance Meridian for Good strategy forward across the group of companies.


Key Duties:

  • Working alongside the Vice-President, Corporate Communications, as a senior leader to develop and execute the corporate communications plan via a team of three corporate communications advisors and provide ongoing strategic counsel to internal stakeholders and team members
  • Develop and execute annual integrated communications plan, including both internal and external communications strategies, to support Meridian's group of companies' corporate priorities
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic internal communications and transformation change strategies for executives, line of businesses and functions
  • Provide ongoing strategic communications counsel to executives, and foster relationships cross functionally to inform and execute internal communications strategies
  • Identify and integrate external communications strategies to overall communications plans, working alongside Head of External Media Relations
  • Manage, execute, and measure enterprisewide communications programs including biannual senior leadership offsite meetings, quarterly Town Halls, quarterly frontline forums, departmental town halls, and other corporate events and strategies, as needed, to communicate corporate strategy and key business initiatives and build employee alignment and engagement
  • Lead topdown executive communications, monthly or as required, via corporate newsletters, messaging, videos, articles, events, etc.
  • Enable alwayson internal communications programming, working with CEO and executive leaders, to align and engage employees on a calendar of key calendar moments, and organizational changes, initiatives and milestones
  • Uncover new opportunities for communications to further the organization's strategic goals, enabling the Meridian for Good (MFG)) corporate strategy and brand goals
  • Work alongside the ESG, strategy, government relations and business internal stakeholders to embed Purpose in corporate communications plans
  • Foster collaboration with Marketing, People & Culture and Change Management teams to leverage all channels to converge and optimize integrated communications that drives strategy and goals.
  • Develop budget and business case recommendations for enterprise and business communications plans that support MFG strategy, with continuous opportunity spotting and continuous planning and execution improvements
  • Forecasts and manages communications support for EPMO (enterprise project management office)
  • Manage the corporate communications budget, including forecasting and accounting.
  • Manage board reporting of quarterly communications milestones, annual report creation and execution of key content pieces, and enablement of annual general meeting, and managing any risk, vendor, or other corporate reporting requirements
  • Manages all ongoing communication team vendor relationships as per vendor management policies and procedures
  • Produce quarterly measurement executive dashboard with team of communications advisors to benchmark and evaluate ongoing internal and external communications programs, and leverage insights for continuous improvement
  • Support delivery of employee value proposition and employer brand through integrated and proactive communications activities across all channels and platforms
  • Oversee management of and foster innovation of internal communications channels, particularly intranet, to improve employee experience and leader effectiveness
  • Ongoing performance management of communications team direct reports, ongoing coaching and mentoring, for a bestinclass team

Office Location: 3330 Bloor Street West, Toronto.
