Job Summary


The Specialist, Solution and System Integration is responsible for designing and performing the data integration to create and modify the track topology used by the Train Controller, using a tool call Track Manager.

The role collaborates with stakeholders and partners to design solutions that improve railroad asset management, operations, and safety.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the existing topology that Dispatchers use, with Track Manager
  • Work closely with Dispatchers and communicate any changes
  • Validate data from different systems using various technologies
  • Review the impact sent for maintenance to resolve if there is data integration to be done
  • Gather the information given by other teams to make an accurate representation of the tracks
  • Read data coming from the Geographic Information System (GIS) and ensure that the visual representation of mile posts and switches is correct
  • Understand how the General Bulletin Orders (GBO) and Tabular General Bulletin Orders (TGBO) operate and make connections with the integration
  • Understand the rules that govern control points and switches to ensure good integration
  • Use knowledge of the rules that governs the railroad industry, in the United States (U.S.) and Canada to make informed decisions

Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires mínimal travel (10%) within Canada and the United States (U.S.).

Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.


Requirements:

Experience

Application Development

  • Between 5 to 7 years of professional experience in testing or data integration
  • Experience with Structured Query Language (SLQ)
  • Experience with Track Manager
  • Any experience for any of the above would be considered an asset
Education/Certification/Designation

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, or equivalent Degree or work experience

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Expertise with JavaScript, , React, React Native, and Redux
  • Backend expertise in SQL language
  • Basic understanding of cloud technology
  • Knowledge of Development Operations (DevOps) methodologies including Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), testing, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats, standards, and protocols
  • Bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)
  • Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset
