Your role


As the Project Manager for Resources, Specials & Live Events, you will manage production projects from inception to completion, and give direction, resolve conflicts and actively communicate with departments to find creative solutions to technical, resource based and business challenges as they relate to the operation.


With a focus on live, you will plan production and resource requirements for all digital and linear platforms, ensuring the efficient use of CBC resources.

Working with a Technical Producer, you will oversee resource allocation and workflows for live sport including the Olympics and large-scale Specials.


Key Tasks

  • Advises production, presentation, management, and external clients on resource requirements for transmissions and costing for live production.
  • Plans and communicates the assignment of studio and remote resources including technical and transmission elements.
  • Reviews key requirements with partners and provides advice and solutions to potential production issues. Recommends solutions, workflows and efficiency improvements.
  • Advises on matters of training and talent development, to support long term plans. Provides training for Resource Specialist roles for both News Specials and Production.
  • Leads production meetings, works with stakeholders to define network and regional resource requirements for productions. Identifies gaps in process and finds solutions as needs evolve.
  • With the Technical Producer, responsible for the booking of phone lines, ethernet, LiveUs, SNG trucks, tie lines, x 75's, audio mixdowns, rf's, multiviews, build monitor walls, intercom panel allocation based on production needs.
  • Prepares and communicates live program transmission workflows, including playback needs and EVS channel requirements.
  • With resources management, assigns employees to large events as required.
  • Represents English Services in transmission matters related to independent and Studios productions
  • When required, initiates and participates in specialised research for workflows and technical projects
  • Monitors business policies, practises, and standards for the assignment and scheduling of CBC Studios production resources to ensure consistent and efficient communication and workflow in the processing of production requests.
  • Assists independent productions with understanding CBC collective agreement language, All Cash business rules, and CBC Studios guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of media, digital and broadcast production and technologies. You have the capacity to navigate through rapidly changing technology and workflows.
  • Ability to oversee requirements for moderate to complex production activities, collaborating with production partners.
  • You have a desire for continuous learning, and a passion for live content production.
  • You bring both attention to detail and strong administrative skills to the role. You possess solid critical thinking skills to analyze, understand and conceive workflows, processes, teams and systems that optimize CBC resources.
  • You possess a high level of diplomacy and enjoy supporting our production partners. Must also have an expert level knowledge of digital and traditional linear workflows and resource requirements.
  • Ability to work limited overtime which could including evenings, weekends, and occasional business travel
  • Minimum 10 years production experience, with a focus on live remote production.
