Overview:

Lafarge Canada is commissioning a new facility near Lake Wabamun that will reclaim landfilled ash from the area and repurpose it to make a usable product for concrete manufacturing.

The Sundance Reclamation facility will be the first of its kind to use the PABS technology from Ash-TEK to beneficiate landfilled materials.

The facility is an important part in Lafarge's goal to drive down greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.


We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fly Ash Plant Operator to join our team at Lafarge at our Sundance Reclaim Facility.

As a Fly Ash Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our fly ash processing plant.

Your primary duties will involve operating and monitoring machinery, maintaining production levels, ensuring quality control, and adhering to safety protocols.


Responsibilities:


  • Operate and monitor fly ash processing machinery, including but not limited to dryers, crushers, mills, separators, calciners and conveyors.
  • Fully trained in the operations and capability of heavy equipment machinery including but not limited to front end loader, Telehandler, Skidsteer and articulated boom lift.
  • Operate and control heavy equipment to load and unload materials, such as dirt, gravel, rocks, or other debris, onto trucks, conveyor belts, or into designated areas.
  • Transporting materials to designated areas within the worksite.
  • Performing preoperation checks and maintenance on mobile equipment.
  • Monitoring the loading process to prevent spills, damage, or accidents.
  • Ensure the efficient and continuous operation of the fly ash plant, maximizing productivity and minimizing downtime.
  • Act as a leader in safety by demonstrating strong personal safety behavior consistent with Lafarge standards, by taking action to reinforce good safety behaviors, and by addressing bad safety behaviors.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions promptly.
  • Monitor and control the flow of materials throughout the plant to maintain consistent production levels.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that the fly ash meets required specifications and standards.
  • Perform regular tests and analysis to monitor the quality of the fly ash and make adjustments as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and hazardfree work environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as maintenance technicians and supervisors, to optimize plant operations and troubleshoot problems.
  • Keep accurate records of production activities, equipment maintenance, and any incidents or accidents.
  • Participate in training programs and stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Load bulk trucks and railcars with ash.
  • Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers' activities on site.
  • Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required.
  • General housekeeping around the site.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Proven experience as a plant operator, preferably in a similar industry (fly ash processing, cement, construction materials, etc.).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of industrial machinery and processes.
  • Familiarity with fly ash or cement plant operations, including dryers, crushers, mills, separators, calciners and conveyors.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, manuals, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to make quick and informed decisions.
  • Detailoriented with a focus on quality control and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
