Residential Care Supervisor - Hamilton, Canada - Families 1st

Families 1st is a provider of specialized care for adults and children with complex special needs who are often dual diagnosed.
We create specialized, individual services that support the independence, inclusion, and dignity of the individuals we support in our residential care homes.
We are currently seeking a
Program Supervisor who will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations and management of our residence in Hamilton.
Strong supervisory skills along with excellent verbal and written communication to lead and support employees in their roles will be the key to success.
Previous supervisory or management experience is strongly preferred. Flexibility to work alternate shifts (evenings and weekends) as necessary to support the program is required.The general day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Managing the administrative operations for the residence
- Handson participation in programming with supported individuals in accordance with established plans
- Provide solutions to barriers impacting the achievement of success in the program for staff and clients
- Review schedules monthly to ensure adequate staff coverage as required for the home
- Establish and direct regularly scheduled staff meetings
- Ensure accuracy and timely completion of documentation, logs, and reports
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and respect for all individuals
- Transport clients as required in accordance with Ministry of Transportation and Families 1st policies
- Manage employee relations issues with the Director and Human Resources as appropriate
The following requirements are also mandatory for the position:
- Current CPR & First Aid certificate
- Completion of or willingness to complete Safe Management crisis intervention training
- G-Class driver's license, valid insurance, and a reliable vehicle
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector police records check and preemployment medical screening (required prior to commencement of employment)
- Proof of vaccination against COVID19
- Completion of a Human Services Diploma (Social Service Worker, Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care Worker) from a recognized Community College or University
- A minimum of 3 years of related experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Proven experience in managing and training staff teams to achieve a highperformance culture
- Excellent team player who encourages and promotes wellness in others through example and strong leadership skills
- Excellent organizational and documenting skills
- Familiarity with applicable legislation and regulations
- Working knowledge of computers and software such as; Microsoft Word, Excel
- Selfmotivated and demonstrated ability to motivate others
