We will count on you:


  • Perform necessary calculations or analysis with respect to DB pension plan funding and accounting valuations, special retirement projects such as assumptions and experience studies, and prepare pension regulatory filings and administration work.
  • Participate in the design and pricing of client's employee pension plans and executive pension benefits, including cash flow modelling, demographic projections and evaluation of liabilities within an assetliability framework.
  • Participate in designing and implementing strategies to manage defined benefit pension plan volatility, including funding strategy, plan design and risk transfer solutions.
  • Learn to collaborate with investment consultants to manage pension plan risk from a holistic perspective and seek to understand both sides of the balance sheet.
  • Work in an integrated team of professionals to start resolving modern actuarial problems in the Canadian pension landscape, including union negotiations, risk transfer and public policy.
  • Learn to communicate with clients through participation in client calls, meetings, and presentations.
  • Assist Senior Consultant with daytoday client contact and problem resolution.
  • Learn to delegate and review other analysts' work. Learn how to perform final technical review for client projects, valuation and accounting valuation reports.
  • Create project work plans and monitor timelines and budgets.

What you need to have:


  • Have completed a first grade university program in actuarial science or mathematic or related field
  • 13 years' experience, preferably in a pension consulting/actuarial environment, using pension plan valuation software
  • Superior analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Ability to demonstrate an indepth understanding of the actuarial and other principles behind a valuation
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established standards/procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Commitment to superior client
