    We're a remote-first company, but we believe people should be able to work where they can be most productive. Currently, we can employ in the United States and Canada. We also have offices in Los Angeles and Seattle for those interested in hybrid or full-time office work.

    We are looking for a highly skilled and technical Senior VFX Artist with experience shipping on the Unreal Engine. As a key member of a small-but-mighty team, you will help make creative and effective VFX systems using your experience in texture and mesh creation, shader magic, and particle animation in Unreal. Our VFX team isn't a one-way service department but true collaborators and co-owners of the game feel. Along with the VFX lead, you'll brainstorm with design, art, and tech on what VFX solution is best for gameplay, presentation and scope.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with lead and other departments on all stages of VFX development, from early prototype to final assets.
    • Assist with defining and achieving the visual style of our VFX through a solid understanding of animation principles, color theory, composition, lighting, and purposeful shape language.
    • Create smart and reusable libraries of textures, shaders, and Niagara particle effects.
    • Contribute to all aspects of Real-Time VFX for the project, from big to small, including environmental, character, weapon, destruction, and more.
    • Help define VFX pipelines in conjunction with leadership and tech.
    • Seek out and fix performance issues.

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of experience, OR at least two shipped AAA titles as a VFX Artist.
    • Thorough understanding of 2D & 3D software packages used to create textures and VFX meshes for use in the Unreal Engine.
    • Deep understanding of Real-Time VFX performance and optimization best practices.
    • Experience with simulation and VFX software like FumeFX, Houdini, Maya, Max, etc.
    • A humble, self-driven, and collaborative mindset, with a passion for making exciting VFX that enhances and communicates the gameplay.
    • A portfolio demonstrating your ability and passion for creating a wide range of high-quality Real-Time VFX and technical pipeline solutions.

    Nice to Haves

    • Experience developing an FPS and/or multiplayer game.
    • Animation, modeling, or other past art experience.
    • HLSL or equivalent shader writing language.
    • Houdini Knowledge.
    • Scripting (Python, Vex, Mel, etc.).
    Compensation:

    We believe that a team that builds together wins together. Because of that, our compensation packages consist of competitive industry standard base salaries, an annual bonus, and royalties. For this specific role, the base salary range is $150,000 to $185,000 with the final salary offered dependent on job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
