Required Skills:

Strategic Procurement Specialist / Buyer

The primary function of this position is to develop and implement procurement strategies to support a specific group of commodities.

This position will ensure that appropriate suppliers are available, and that materials are ordered and delivered on time.

Responsibilities:

Gain understanding of overall Manufacturing plans, New Product Development, Service needs and Aftermarket Sales requirements
Clarify purchase needs through crossfunctional meetings and discussions as needed
Develop commodity strategies to improve the Supply Chain, by reducing risk, cost and leadtime
Review sourcing options to select appropriate Supplier or participate in the onboarding of new Suppliers as needed
Assist in developing and negotiating Supplier Agreements
Create Purchase Orders to support manufacturing schedules, MRP demand and manual Purchase Requisitions
Create and monitor supplier KPI's to ensure Supplier Performance (Cost, Delivery, Quality)
Build effective business relationships and follow up with Suppliers as needed
Ensure ERP system information is accurate (e.g., leadtimes & delivery)

Requirements/Qualifications:

A strong teamplayer with experience working in crossfunctional teams
Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related discipline (business, engineering, materials management, supply chain)
Minimum of 25 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment
Previous experience in buying or supporting Mechanical, Electrical or Optical products considered an asset
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills
MRP/ERP experience required (SAP preferred)
Intermediate level MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Industry certifications considered an asset (SCMP, CSCMP, CPIM, CSCP, etc.)
