PURPOSE and SCOPE:


Manage, plan and execute the activities of the Tool Design Engineering Team and the Tool Build Shop to ensure timely and cost effective team deliverables for Tool Development and Build that meet the needs of the company.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


The following are the main job responsibilities and priorities for this position:

  • To coach and grow team members in Tool Design and Tool Build
  • To estimate, plan and execute tool design and build to support New Product Development and Current Product changes and maintenance.
  • Supervise the activities of a team of tool design engineers to ensure timely development of tools in support of current and new product.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the tool design engineers on the Tool Development methodology and ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on performance and status of the team deliverables.
  • Create Performance Plans and conduct Performance Reviews jointly with Director per MacDon's human resource management systems.
  • Continuously improve the associated processes.
  • Assist in the recruitment of employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Technology
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng preferred) or Certified Engineering Technologist
  • Proven experience leading multiple groups.
  • Proven experience working in a crossfunctional setting.
  • A solid background in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems with electrical systems being an asset.
  • Farming background is preferred.
  • Experience with Hay and Grain harvesting equipment would be considered an asset.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Solid experience with employee development and performance management.
  • Experience with fabrication processes and welding processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of CAD systems with Solid Edge being an asset.
  • Must possess excellent presentation, organization, communication and logical problemsolving skills.
  • Teamoriented; good team player.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop employees.
  • Capable in the use of MS office software; Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Available to travel. Able to cross the Canadian/US border and other countries as necessary.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
