The Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy (AZIA)is an independent elementary and middle school that is inspired by thedoctrinesandvaluesoftheIslamicfaithandoffersabroadandbalancedprogramthatisinlinewithBC's redesigned curriculum. AZIA is a Group 1 classification of Independent schools under the Ministry of Education guidelines. The school opened its doors for the first time in September 2003. The school is located at the Az-Zahraa Islamic Center in Richmond BC, which includes abeautiful mosque,a large library, a playground, and a full-size gymnasium. We have astrong enthusiastic team of dedicated staff committed to the vision of the school and a supportive, devoted School Board.

We are inviting applications from caring and capable individuals who able to teach a broad spectrum of subjects at the Elementary School Level. Our salary scale is 5% higher than the Richmond Public School pay scale .

Requiredqualifications include:

• BC ProfessionalTeacherCertificationfromtheBCTeacherRegulation Office o

• Willingnesstosupportandfacilitatethevision,mission,goalsandobjectivesofthe elementaryschool program through an ongoing collaboration with the School Board and the principal

• Motivatedtodevelopanenvironmentthatisconduciveto teachingthedoctrines,values,andpractices of the faith

• Knowledgeofpedagogyincludinginstructionalstrategies,theoryofteaching literacy/numeracyandchild development is essential

• Knowledgeofcurrentcurriculumtrendsincludingteachingearlyreadingand numeracy

• Interestintakingonextra-curricular activities

• Desiretoworkcollaborativelywithanenergetic andenthusiastic team

• ExperiencewithESL/strugglingstudentsis an asset
