    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY

    :

    To provide a safe environment for all patients and staff though the application of engineering concepts and methods relative to systems used in patient care and Medical Electronic instruments and equipment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Overview:

  • Must work in cooperation with all other staff to produce a harmonious working relationship throughout the Brandon Regional Health Centre
  • Shall report directly to the Charge Technologist
  • Shall ensure the appropriate Preventative Maintenance Functional Testing, Performance Verification, Calibration and related documentation is performed when required for all medical devices within the Brandon Regional Health Centre and the Regional Services Program
  • Responsible for such duties as incoming medical device inspections, in-service to appropriate personnel, safety design modification and repair of medical devices
  • Will be required to service the Brandon Regional Health Centre or travel to Regional Service contract facilities; day trips and overnight trips as required
  • Will participate in various meetings and committees as required
  • Keeps the Charge Technologist apprised of all pertinent information regarding the functions within the department
  • Responsible for ordering related materials and parts as required
  • Will be required to be on call on occasion to handle emergency relating to the operation of Medical Devices and other important ancillary support systems
  • Must be willing to follow instructions and proper lines of communication
  • Must demonstrate responsibility for continuous self- improvement and professional progress
  • Must demonstrate tact, courtesy and understanding to staff, Regional Service clients
  • May be required to attend Service Seminars on various manufacturers' medical devices as directed
  • May be required to work extended hours to complete Preventative Maintenance inspections and emergency repairs. This may involve weekends and statutory holidays
  • Shall maintain work areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition
  • Stands and moves during most of the working day. This involves bending, reading and lifting of light to moderate weights. Requires acute visual and average auditory capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
