THE OPPORTUNITY


Are you a certified trades person looking to join a "best in class" maintenance team? Western Forest Products is hiring for a
Certified Saw Filer to join our
Cowichan Bay Sawmill located in Cowichan Bay, BC.


_ $7000 Signing Bonus & Relocation Assistance Available_

What We Offer:


  • USW unionized position with a wage rate of
    $49.13/hour as per the collective agreement
  • Benefits and pension are provided through the union
  • Safe work environment

Shifts:
Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday

  • Must be available to work on various shifts (day, afternoon, graveyard, and/or weekends)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Benching and installing of bandsaws and circle saws;
  • Inspecting, and changing of knives;
  • Troubleshooting mechanical machinery;
  • Welding repairs on bandsaws and circle saws;
  • Saw guide maintenance and installation; and,
  • Knowledge of sawmill machine lineup.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years saw filing experience;
  • Experience in benching band saws, round saws and fitting;
  • Detail oriented with the ability to follow exact procedures;
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic;
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills; and,
  • Accountable and dependable.
