- Performing material and labour estimates using Fabtrol/Strumis and Bluebeam software
- Preparing bid proposals using Microsoft Word
- Reviewing structural and architectural drawings and specifications
- Review the estimate with the Estimating Manager to ensure agreement with labour, material, equipment and subcontracting quantities & costs
- Obtaining any additional required information from suppliers and subcontractors
- Civil Engineering Technologist diploma, or equivalent
- Previous experience with Structural Steel considered an asset
- Fluent with Microsoft Office
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Desire to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, customer-focused environment
- High attention to detail
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

Incorporated in 1955, Ocean Steel has grown to become one of the largest steel fabricators in Eastern Canada and one of the most respected steel suppliers on the Eastern Seaboard. It services several markets, including all of Canada and the Eastern United States. Ocean designs, fabricates and erects structural steel for buildings and bridges. It also manufactures and installs platework, such as breechings, stacks, ducts, penstocks, process & storage tanks and custom process-equipment. Ocean Steel has two, modern New Brunswick-based plants in Saint John and in Fredericton. We currently have sales offices in Saint John, New Brunswick, Brampton, Ontario and Burlington, Massachusetts.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for preparing accurate estimate reports for projects by gathering information and analyzing important metrics. Job knowledge and competency is built through positive training and supportive coaching from management and peers. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation systems. In addition to being an excellent communicator, the incumbent should also be detail orientated with outstanding organizational skills.
