For this position you will be working on Stage 2 of the Confederation Line Expansion to the Ottawa LRT during the construction and commissioning phases of the project.

You will report to the Stage 2 Project Manager and be based at the Belfast Yard in Ottawa.


Responsibilities:


  • Support train testing on the Stage 2 mainline track with focus on CBTC/power delivery.
  • Make sure the safety of all occupants inside the train is the first priority and advise how to utilize the train accordingly.
  • Learn and be aware of the different safety environments between Stage 1 LRT (operation and maintenance) and Stage 2 LRT (construction), act accordingly.
  • Diagnose issues that occur on the train during or before testing and fix them if possible in the field. This includes installing small equipment.
  • Complete daily inspections of the train while in the field to verify the train is fully operational and in good condition includes operating the train driver controls.
  • Create and manage work orders using SAP, Apriso SES and Agility IMIRS.
  • Submit handover reports to management.
  • Provide detailed technical explanations of train failures when required.
  • Be able to manage your own shift and equipment.
  • Coordinate test scheduling with the onsite permit holder.
  • Participate in all safety and work briefings.
  • Liaise with engineering/troubleshooting/maintenance/supply chain teams to provide support when needed.
  • Support Stage 1 train troubleshooting in downtime.
  • Support engineering topics during downtime (work instructions, change control board, etc).
Qualifications and Skills

  • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting or testing electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic circuits and communications in vehicles, particularly the Alstom Citadis Spirit train.
  • Railway experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge in electrical high risk activities and safety requirements.
  • Position will be mostly nights and weekends.
  • Problem solver and self starter.
  • Understands how to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings.
  • Can communicate technical issues to management.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • Some experience using SAP ERP/Apriso SES/Agility IMIRS is an asset but training is available.
  • Good knowledge of MS SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint.
  • G-Class Driver's license with abstract and be able to travel between the Moodie Light Maintenance Facility and Trim Station.
