Autism Nova Scotia delivers programming in Halifax and in nine communities across Nova Scotia through our Regional Autism Centers.


Our three program divisions are:
Social & Community Inclusion; Employment Support; and Family and Caregiver Support.


POSITION TITLE:
Education and Training Manager**POSITION: Full Time-40 hrs per week

TRAVEL (frequency): Occasional

PROGRAM SUMMARY:


The Education and Training Manager is an exciting role that offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of highly motivated professionals and advocates in a growing field of knowledge development and dissemination.

The successful applicant will identify and monitor both the training needs within the organization, as well as opportunities to develop and deliver external training through Exploring the Spectrum—Autism Nova Scotia's Training and Education Social Enterprise.


The Education and Training Manager works closely with our Internal & Community Based Trainer as well as our Human Resources Team.

The Manager acts as co-supervisor to the Internal & Community Based Trainer (split with Human Resources)


Roles and Duties

  • Develop and manage strategic goals and annual workplans for internal and external training and education development
  • Work collaboratively to identify gaps and opportunities for the delivery of existing training and the development of new content customized for specific audiences
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for partnerships, collaboration, funding, and other opportunities as they arise around training and development for Autism Nova Scotia and the Exploring the Spectrum (ETS) social enterprise.
  • Manage and oversee the Exploring the Spectrum website and the ETS eCampus where resources and eLearning courses can be purchased
  • Ensure regular reporting and evaluation of internal and external training and education, to ensure content and delivery excellence, while also ensuring training is reflective of Autistic, person directed, first voice experiences.
  • Act as project manager for the development and creation of learning materials such as; eLearning content, storyboards, user guides, tip sheets, tutorials, assessments, videos, and audio recordings
  • Research and remain informed on innovative practices, tools and formats for training and development

Skills and Competencies:


  • Knowledge of Autism and an understanding of the social model of disability an asset
  • Committed to the full inclusion of autistic people/people with autism in every domain of life
  • Knowledge of universal design and/or adult education an asset but not required.
  • Direct or transferable skills in project management, content development, virtual and inperson facilitation, and evaluation of education and or training materials
  • Ability to collaborate with external stakeholders such as consultants and Learning Management Platform providers.
  • Previous experience working with ecommerce platforms and learning management systems an asset but not required
  • Above average time management skills and the ability to translate data analysis into action
  • Ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365

Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor's degree: Teaching or master's degree or equivalent certification in training and education design an asset
  • Management experience an asset
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Current Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Check

As a Proof of Vaccination organization, all Autism Nova Scotia staff are required to be fully vaccinated.
