24-Hour Services includes emergency and transitional shelters, Women's 24-HR Drop In, Respite and the Edward
Hotel Temporary Shelter programs. These emergency services provide specialized supports for homeless women,
men and couples who face barriers due to mental health issues, substance use, social isolation, immigration status,
unemployment/underemployment challenges and history with the criminal justice system.

The Coordinator, Infection Prevention and Control position provides supports organization-wide infection
prevention and control (IPAC) with a primary focus in the 24-Hour Services sites.

What You Will Do:


  • Ensure infection prevention and control measures are in place, in accordance with Toronto Public Health, SSHA
and FV directives and practices

  • Organize site IPAC assessments/inspections and coordinate tasks needed to address deficiencies
  • Develop training material, guide documents and display material, and manuals
  • Train staff on IPAC guidelines and best practices inperson, and through tutorials
initiatives

  • Be the main point of contact for TPH, SSHA, WSIB, and MOL in relation to IPAC requests and audits
  • Ensure proper communication to all FV parties on IPAC practices and directives from TPH and/or SSHA/Funder
  • Liaise with each FV sites IPAC leads as designated and as per SSHA requirements
  • Ensure related IPAC risks are prioritized and mitigated with appropriate communications, resolutions, planning,
monitoring and evaluation for lessons learned documentation

  • Ensure any IPAC recommendations or changes are communicated in a timely manner to staff, site management
and FV Sr Management as appropriate

  • Liaise with the property services department at FV and SSHA to ensure the provision of PPE equipment
  • Support site supervisors and IPAC leads with outbreak management
  • Remain current with any IPAC technical knowledge/standards
  • Coordinate immunization clinics and vaccination programs, including all logistics, collaboration with partners
and reports

  • Ensure joint health and safety committees are active at each site
  • Attend joint health and safety committee meetings to provide updates related to IPAC
  • Attend internal IPAC committees where applicable
  • Undertake projects as directed by the Unit Director and other duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Undergraduate in health promotion or relevant degree
  • 2 years of experience working with vulnerable communities who are experiencing homelessness
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in IPAC practice/standards
  • Experience with conducting IPAC audits/assessments
  • Knowledge of Toronto Shelter Standards, 24HR Drop-In Standards, Occupational Health and Safety regulations
- and Public Health guidelines as they pertain to emergency shelters
  • Highly developed written, presentation and oral communication skills
  • Developed interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with the communities FV serves, external
agencies/partners and FV staff

  • Strong understanding of and commitment to harm reduction, clientcentered, traumainformed, and anti
- oppression practices

  • Strong skills with motivating and training staff teams
  • Highly developed ability to plan and prioritize work
  • Experience from working in the health sector, an asset
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, D-Base prog
