We are currently recruiting a Tower Crane an Hoist Technician to assist with the design, construction, installation, alterations, repairs, maintenance and testing of personnel hoists (also known as man & material hoists or construction elevators) that are being installed on buildings we are constructing in Edmonton.
Wage
$33 - $55, negotiable; based on experience

Duties/ResponsibilitiesDesign, construct, install, alter, repair, maintain and test personnel hoists
Install traction and hydraulic components
Install traction elevators
Install hydraulic elevators
Install rack and pinion personnel hoists - layout base & buffer assembly, install masts, braces, anchors and limit cams. Install car enclosure, drive assembly and counterweight assembly. Install & inspect hoistway door wiring & hoarding. Install base and car control panel and wiring. Adjust and commission.
Install wiring raceways, fixtures and wiring
Install and trouble shoot electrical systems
Repair elevating systems - service brake systems, replace machines and motors
Comply with OH&S regulation & provincial workers compensation standards
Use PPE
Use hand, measuring and alignment tools
Use ladders, scaffolding and platforms
Use rigging and hoisting equipment
Use electrical test equipment
Read drawings and specification
Read, interpret and use acts regulations and codes
Working Conditions
Long term, steady, year-round work
10-12 hours per day, work on weekends as required
Two paid 15 minutes breaks and one 1⁄2 hour unpaid lunch break per day
Working at heights
Climb tower cranes (up to 60 storeys) in varying weather conditions
Travel to SK, BC and MB (20% of the time)

Manual dexterity, mechanically inclined, physically fit
Requirements:
Journeyman millwright or heavy-duty mechanic preferred
Knowledge of general construction and formwork concrete practices considered an asset
Knowledge of tower crane and hoists considered an asset
Rigging ticket considered an asset
Fall Protection ticket considered an asset
