    Software Sector – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Toronto

    Our client is well established, stable, private-equity backed, founder-led, Canadian headquartered, and growing rapidly. As the company continues to align its executive leadership capabilities with its successful strategy of aggressive organic growth, it is now seeking to hire a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

    Scope of Position

    The CFO will report to the CEO and be based in the Toronto office. The position will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting and results of the company. This includes administrative, financial, IT, and risk management operations, as well as refining the company's financial and operational strategy, developing control systems to preserve assets and ensure accurate financial results, and more.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Provide financial guidance and counsel on matters related to finance, including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and corporate growth strategies.
    • Leadership and Performance Management: Lead, guide, mentor, and manage the finance staff to ensure they are structured and sized optimally to meet the needs of the business.
    • Relationships and Compliance: Manage relationships with audit firms, investors, suppliers, customers, and partners; ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Cash Flow and Risk Management: Ensure adequate cash flow to meet organizational needs and maintain effective risk management practices.

    • Specific performance measures will be discussed and agreed upon with the successful candidate.
    • Role Expertise: Demonstrates critical technical or professional knowledge/skills related to the role.
    • Commercial Acumen: Applies appropriate commercial and financial principles.
    • Information Seeking: Consults widely for business or technical advice.
    • Team Skills: Helps create a sense of team spirit and harmonious relations through cooperation and support.

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

    A minimum of 10 years of senior financial management experience preferably in a software or services company. Solid operational skills and experience. Experience within mid-sized software company concerns ($20-50mm) dealing with issues of scaling and growth. Experience managing the IT function within the finance mandate. M&A experience.
