Core faculty position in the Graduate Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program.

Position duties include teaching in the Graduate Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program, providing service to the Adler and greater professional community, participation in committees, supervising capstone projects, and effectively mentoring graduate students in the MPPA program.

Core Faculty holds expertise in the areas of public policy, public administration or a related field that allows for teaching within the MPPA program.


Education/Experience:


  • Doctorate in Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field that allows for teaching within the MPPA program is preferred; Master's in Public Policy, Public Administration, or a related field with significant professional experience related to public policy work will be considered
  • Demonstrate a strong record of graduate level teaching
  • Exemplify the scholarpractitioner training model in terms of curriculum design and/or delivery
  • Strong proficiency in communityengaged scholarship and other professional activities related to public policy and/or public administration
  • Position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and professional staff
  • Demonstrated commitment to socially responsible practice, social justice issues and diversity are important
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and train culturally diverse students with proven teaching strategies
  • Position requires sufficient mix of academic training and professional work experience outside of academe applicable to public policy/administration, including research, analysis, implementation and evaluation.
  • Specialized training or expertise in applied research in public and notforprofit settings, public policy analysis, public sector governance (including indigenous governance structures and mechanisms), economic analysis, and/or program design, implementation and evaluation, preferred

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Position duties including teaching and student advising in the graduate Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) program, providing service to the Adler and greater professional community, participation in committees, supervising Capstone projects, and effectively mentoring graduate students.
  • Teach courses in more than one of the following areas: applied research, public sector governance (including indigenous governance structures and mechanisms), applied public policy and/or economic analysis, program design, implementation and evaluation, and/or public sector leadership and management.
  • Support the Chair in Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Plan (SLOAP) reporting, coordination of Policy Internship placements/partnership building, and development of pathways to accreditation.
  • Build and maintain constructive work relationships and community partnerships.
  • Support and model the University's mission and values of: social interest, compassion, justice, respect for the individual, honors diversity and difference, intellectual rigor, optimism and collaboration.

Work Environment (Physical Demands): The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
