Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world's foremost repertory theatre companies.

It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays.

For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world's most dedicated and experienced arts workers.

The House Manager reports to the Senior Front of House Manager, or designate and is part of the Audience Engagement department.

The House Manager is responsible for managing the front of house guest experience at their designated theatre.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead a team of seasonal ushers and parking attendants
  • Collaborate with other audiencefacing roles to deliver exceptional front of house customer service
  • Interface extensively with audience members, as well as production and artistic personnel
  • Balance the needs of various stakeholders towards the common goal of an excellent theatre experience
  • Complete and submit daily reports, which could include balancing deposits
  • Adhere to the Stratford Festival Health & Safety Commitment and Procedures, and ensure that safe work practices and policies are supported and enforced within reporting structure.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High school diploma (grade 12) or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years of related experience in hospitality
  • A clear knowledge of all health and safety practices and a comfort with leadership in emergency situations is required
  • First Aid and CPR certification is preferred
  • Experience with Tessitura software is an asset
  • Comfort with common business software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including matinee, evening, weekends and holidays
