Position Summary

As a key member of the senior operations team, the Vice President-MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul), reporting to the Vice President of Manufacturing, assumes the key executive role in the overall management of the De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Technical Services organization.

The Vice President MRO acts as a direct liaison between the underlying business and the VP Manufacturing and is responsible for the preparation of the long
- and short-term strategies for the businesses.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide the leadership necessary to ensure that the business is aligned with the overall vision as defined by the business and that the appropriate metrics of the underlying entity is aligned with that vision
  • Ensures the underlying entities have in place both long
- and short-term business plans and action plans which are actively being executed in support of the overall organizational goals

  • Coordinates activities within and between underlying MRO entities and other related entities to ensure efficient inter/intracompany processes and trouble shoot conflicts arising from inter/intracompany work flow
  • Takes a handson lead position of implementing, maintaining and executing a comprehensive reporting system
  • Drives organizational value through development of human capital, culture, and mentoring and developing underlying business leaders as well as future leaders within the group
  • Ensures employee relations are established and maintained with a view towards positive, respectful, transparent communications and interactions
  • Ensures the underlying entities are compliant with all applicable regulations, standards and laws
  • Ensures each underlying entity is appropriately resourced to execute the organization's strategies and has appropriate executive and management depth and succession planning in place
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full range of solutions appropriate to the organization's vision
  • Provides senior executive and shareholders with advice on the financial implications of business activities
  • Ensures that the business has processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, and reporting
  • Provides recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
  • Prepares ad hoc and routine quarterly reporting for the executive group and/or shareholder, including financial performance, progress against strategic plans, identification of material risks and mitigation strategies thereon, and others as requested
  • Maintains awareness of both external and internal competitive environment, opportunities for expansion, customers, new markets, industry developments, and other relevant market data
  • Ensures overall corporate activity is appropriately organized and resourced
Education & Experience

  • Aerospace / or aviationrelated degree and/or MBA or equivalent experience in similar role is required
  • 15+ years in progressively responsible aviation / aerospace leadership roles in a multiorganizational context, preferably in an environment of constant change and evolution, is required
  • Prior experience in operating a multitype, multifunction MRO facility
  • OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) experience is an asset

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and resultsorientation
  • A strong financial reporting background is a requirement
  • Proven ability to assess business opportunities and make appropriate recommendations
